Starring When They See Us’ Marquis Rodriguez and Margot at the Wedding’s Zane Pais - and featuring a scene-stealing cameo from Now List honoree Larry Owens - this episode shares a tonal DNA with thought-provoking projects like I May Destroy You, Russian Doll, and End of the Century. A split-perspective retelling of that fateful night, the episode shows how two people can share the same experience but remember it quite differently. Based on a true story, The Lady and the Dale is a sumptuous feast of 70s aesthetics which tells the dramatic true story of Elizabeth Carmichael, who started a company to release a fuel-efficient car during the 1970s gas crisis. This trend continues in its second season, which includes a highlight that might rank as one of my favorite television episodes of the year: “How Do You Remember Me?” follows two men who, upon accidentally running into each other, begin to reflect on the sole date they went on years prior. Its first season included some truly incredible installments that have stuck with me ever since, but it also featured a few noticeable duds that felt more like a chore to sit through than anything else. This is certainly the case for Modern Love, Amazon Prime’s adaptation of the popular New York Times column of the same name. Every anthology series has its highs and lows.
